Avid Video Engine is the core video playback and rendering technology used inside Avid’s professional applications, delivering reliable, frame-accurate picture playback directly on the timeline for audio post and editorial workflows. It keeps audio tightly in sync with video for tasks like sound design, ADR, and final mixing, while supporting a broad range of professional codecs and containers—including Avid DNxHD/DNxHR, ProRes (platform-dependent), H.264, MXF, and MOV. Sharing the same underlying technology as Avid’s editing tools, it enables smooth interchange, native handling of Avid media, responsive scrubbing, and monitoring through supported video I/O hardware, all designed to provide stable performance on modern HD and 4K projects.
